The breed

A heritage breed, built for here.

The Barred Rock is a classic American heritage breed, selected for hardiness. It’s known for a good balance of meat and egg production, and it handles cold Kentucky winters and hot Kentucky summers well.

How we raise them

Moved every day.

Our birds live in a mobile chicken tractor that moves to fresh grass every day. We rotate them across our pastures, so each patch gets time to rest and regrow.

Good for the birds. Good for the soil.

Fresh ground every day keeps the flock healthy and active. As they move, they scratch, forage and fertilize, building the soil as they go.

Non-GMO feed.

On top of what they find on pasture, our hens get non-GMO feed.
